Lisa Tully

I first encountered the incredible being that is Eleni Gkikakis in Botswana, where we had both been invited to attend an advanced interspecies communication immersion by our mentor Anna Breytenbach. One afternoon I was suddenly drawn to this woman sitting on a log, bent over, knife in hand, industriously whittling a stick. What first struck me was that her normally beautiful face had screwed up into what can only be described as fiercely intense, her concentration directed like a laser beam on the stick. Her actions belied my assumptions, for Eleni has a presence that is (suffice to say) majestic, yet here she was hunched like a crone and frowning like a prune, brandishing a knife like an expert wood carver. I was captivated by this unlikely scene and I asked what she was doing. She explained she'd found her special stick to take on an upcoming vision quest in the US and was preparing it for their journey. I was awestruck.

Eleni no longer stood out to me because of her fabulous ability to tune in to the wild animals we were meeting in Botswana, and I was already assured of her non-human communication skills when she successfully tuned in to my cat Stellar. Eleni had leapt in to my field and my life because of her authenticity.

Eleni's world is different than most for she not only walks beyond the 'modern day' human realm (a challenging adventure for anyone who is privy to things that others simply cannot fathom), she fully immerses herself in the experiences that these realms open up. She feels the pain, she hears the voices and she experiences the love. In Eleni's life the 'other' worlds interact with this one and in this she goes way above and way beyond to fulfill the needs of those who call upon her.

Along with her beautiful partner Michalis, Eleni takes care of not only their own menagerie of 'high needs pets' but of many 'stray' dogs all over her region. They keep a constant supply of food in their car to feed any hungry dog they may encounter. They name them, they care for them, they love them and they work tirelessly at finding many of them forever homes. This level of active compassion is an absolute rarity in the world today, and it is something that Eleni simply can't ignore inside herself.

The depth of commitment that Eleni has to the non-human beings goes hand in hand with her passion and drive for expressing what they are saying. She is bound by an honesty and integrity that most cannot dare to commit to. Her depth of caring has been nothing short of incredible for me to bear witness to.

In a world full of lack lustre, half hearted attempts by so many charlatans and 'do gooders' Eleni is a beacon of light. Thank you Eleni for truly being you. A remarkable woman whose intentions pave a golden path of connectedness and honour.
